The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday honoured students, teachers and schools of Qatar who won prizes in the various regional competitions they participated in during the 2016-2017 academic year, and had outstanding results and achievements.HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi honoured 22 students, teachers and schools who won the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, won at the 6th GCC Math Olympiad, Physics Olympiad and Arabic Language Debates in addition to winners at the Braille reading competition, organised by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care.The event also included winners at the World Youth Forum, which was held on the margins of the United Nations Conference on Combating Drugs in Vienna, the winners of the World Robotics Championship and winners at Sheikha Fadia Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah Competition at the level of GCC secondary schools.HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education said that this victory, achieved by the Qatari students, indicates their scientific excellence which results from the strength of the competencies they have acquired in the subjects of the study.He praised the role of school administrations and Qatari families who supported their children, nurtured and prepared them for competition and winning.The winners have painted an honourable image of Qatar at the regional and international levels, he added.For their part, the honoured students and their families expressed their happiness at this honour, which indicates the state’s attention to excellence.
