QRCS signs MoU with Libyan charity

Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Libya’s Sheikh Taher Azzawi Charity Organisation (Staco), to launch a humanitarian relief for Libyans in dire need.According to the MoU, signed by QRCS executive director Youssef Ahmed al-Hammadi and Staco chairman Salem Ramadan, both parties will work together in shared humanitarian operations, conferences, workshops, and third-party partnerships, as well as exchange of experience and information. Also, a joint planning and follow-up committee will be formed.Al-Hammadi emphasised the strong bilateral ties between the two countries as Arab humanitarians who work to serve the victims of crises, particularly in war-torn Libya, where the protracted conflict took its heavy toll on lives, economy, and security.“We in QRCS hold an open approach, ready to co-operate with all humanitarian peers. Qatar is there for the victims of conflicts and disasters everywhere. The agreement is a step forward in this regard,” he said.Ramadan said: “We are happy for co-operating with QRCS in the humanitarian relief of Libyan people. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for his constant support for the Libyan people.”“We should remember Ali Hassan al-Jabir, who martyred while working in Benghazi as a reporter during the Libyan Revolt of 2011. The contributions by QRCS for all the Libyan people without discrimination are highly admired. It reflects their firm belief in the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement,” he added.Established in 2011, Staco is a non-governmental, non-profit, and independent organisation that focuses on charity work and development of societies. Its scope covers sustainable development, help of low-income individuals, and humanitarian aid for emergency victims without discrimination or prejudice.Staco is a member of several regional and international platforms.
