Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has launched its first Interactive Teller Machine (ITM), named Live Teller, at its newly relocated Al Gharafa branch in Q-Mall.Live Teller is a video-based interactive technology that allows customers to conduct transactions and banking services driven by a centrally based teller, through a “highly engaging” real-time video/audio interaction, QIB has said in a press statement.By talking to Live Teller, with extended hours of services, customers can withdraw or deposit cash by using their Qatari ID rather than a debit card. They can also encash and deposit cheques without the need to wait in a branch. Further, customers can execute internal transfers between accounts, make payments and perform requests and enquiries such as updating contact details, check their account statement in addition to a variety of transaction that are usually offered by branch tellers. The initiative will start in a single location and make its way to other locations all over Qatar, expanding the bank’s footprint and retail distribution network. Live Teller “bridges the digital revolution with the physical branch environment”. “We are proud to be leading a new era of digital banking in Qatar,” said D Anand, general manager of QIB’s Personal Banking Group. “This initiative is part of QIB’s Board of Directors’ objective to invest in technology in order to maintain QIB’s leadership in the banking sector, and in line with Qatar’s vision to technologically advance the country’s financial services sector.” “The APTRA Interactive Teller will help QIB offer access to teller services during non-traditional banking hours, build new small-footprint branches and provide full teller services in different areas, all while taking advantage of the advanced features of NCR ATMs,” said Bahey Thabet, country manager, NCR financial services, Qatar.NCR Corporation is a leader in omni-channel solutions, turning everyday interactions with businesses into exceptional experiences.
