Minister lauds initiative to attract teachers

HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi yesterday praised the initiative launched by Doha Independent Secondary School for Boys this academic year, aimed at attracting qualified Qatari teachers.The minister said the initiative can be adopted by other schools.During a visit to the school, the minister praised the performance and abilities of Qatari students and their interest to teach in the future.The initiative aims to develop the required talents for teaching, and encourage Qatari students in independent schools to pursue a career in teaching.The initiative also contributes to deepening the relations between the students and teachers.Advisory Councilholds meetingThe Advisory Council yesterday held its regular weekly session under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.The Advisory Council was briefed on the report of the Internal and Foreign Affairs Committee on a draft law on the “National Address”. The Council approved the draft law and decided to submit its recommendations to the Cabinet.Then, a memo by the Cabinet General Secretariat on a draft law amending some provisions of the Advocacy Law issued by Law No 23 of 2006 was read out. The Council decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to study it and present a report thereon to the Council.Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee held a meeting under the chairmanship of its Rapporteur Nasser Serayea al-Kaabi during the council’s 45th regular session yesterday.The committee continued its review of the National Service draft law and decided to continue the process at another meeting.
