About 450 people attend Grand Hasya Kavi Sammelan

The North Indians’ Association (NIA), Doha-Qatar organised its “Grand Hasya Kavi Sammelan” last weekend at the DPS-MIS in Al Wakrah. Around 450 people attended the event which was a laugh riot. Star attraction of the event was Padma Shree Ashok Chakradhar, who anchored the event. Four other well-known Kavis –Aashkaran Atal, Arun Jamini, Mamta Sharma and Sudeep Bhola also entertained the audience with their satire and jokes that touched a wide-range of subjects from the current state of things in the society to some other widely debated subjects in India. The poets also made an impact on the audience through their song recitals, depicting love and stereotypes within different professions. Even serious topics were presented so that they generated plenty of laughter. Kuldeep Kour welcomed the gathering and Anshu Jain introduced and welcomed all Kavis one by one on the stage.Indian ambassador P Kumaran was the chief guests. The Kavis (poets) were presented with Shawls by the Managing Committee members. The show started at 7pm and lasted for four hours, generating lots of laughter and applause from the audience. The event was co-ordinated and presented by NIA president Praveen Sharma, vice-president Sanjay Arora and ex committee member Sudhir Gupta. Support was provided by Managing Committee members Harish Kanjani, Mukesh Singh, Anil Mehta, Durgesh Gupta, Abhijit Sarkar, Shivani Mishra, Chandra Gururani, Kuldeep Kour Bahl, Monika Modi and Renu Malhotra.The event sponsor was Al Dar for Exchange Works while support sponsors were Benjamin Moore Paints, Lulu Hypermarket, Qatar International Electrical Co, Mega Mart and Al Maya International. The event management was by Trans Media International and media partner was Gulf Times.
