An exhibition of 30 intricately crafted works of art, each studded with Swarovski crystals, emeralds, rubies, pearls and other valuable stones, has opened at Katara – the Cultural Village.“Each piece of work by Malaysian artist Patric Rozario that draws inspiration from the Qatari culture, such as: Dallah, the Camel and Arabic Calligraphy,” according to a statement from Katara. Inaugurated in the presence of Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, and other dignitaries yesterday, the exhibition in building 18 in gallery two at Katara, runs until April 14, from 10am to 10pm.“My art pieces are constantly evolving, becoming richer and more meaningful, as they are inspired by feedback and ideas from the buyers and the viewers,” said Rozario who prefer to create pieces that are ‘dazzling, rich, glamorous, colourful, joyful and rare.’“My effort is to evoke happiness, and if possible, heal too. The pearl works that I have created are considered by many as my signature collection. In fact, I am so fascinated with pearls that I have spent a great deal of time studying and researching more about the precious stone.” The artist not only showcases his artworks in exhibitions, but also owns studios in London and Doha. He has also formed two companies, Aesthetic Arts Ltd in the UK and Aesthetic Arts Design of Qatar, with the aim of promoting his artistic pieces. The works on display are bespoke metal coverings conceived and created to tastefully decorate interiors and to rewrite the concept of sophisticated living. These panels glow in brilliant designs and colours but are versatile, and are guaranteed to meet the requirements of the most selective and demanding interior designers, fit-out consultants and architects. Rozario’s exclusive production process includes hand painting on metal composite panels or solid metal, which are then embedded with natural pearls, Swarovski crystals, precious gems, semi-precious stones and crystals. These are then time-dried and finally hand coated with special water resistant epoxy resin (which has no odour and no volatile organic compounds), resulting in an elegant and unique form of art. Rozario’s creations are particularly coveted as each work is unique and bespoke, with no panels identical to each other, the statement added.
