Winners of QRCS sport fest awarded

Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has awarded the winners of its first-ever sport fest recently, which started during National Sport Day on February 14.More than 200 QRCS staff from various nationalities participated in four sporting events: basketball, football, chess, and carrom.Some 12 teams took part in football, six in basketball, 32 in carrom, and 32 players in chess.The Mesaimeer nursing team won the football championship (team) while the Hemaila nursing team bagged the champion in basketball. Niyas Kasimkutty and Jabir Kadavath from Mesaimeer Workers’ health Center won the carrom while Dr Phillip Mwashe, who belong to the same group, bagged the championship in chess.Individual awards are: best player in football (Nizar Kamasery), best player in basketball (Mark Antonio), best goalkeeper (Dr Marzouq Saleh), best football scorer (Shafeer Aerettel), and basketball defensive player (Jeremy Camacho). QRCS medical affairs staff across different workers’ health centres, medical commission units, ambulance department, and administration department participated in the event.The games were held on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at Qatar Sports Club, Dafna while the final games were played at Muaither Sports Club, with the presence of QRCS president Dr Mohamed bin Ghanem al-Ali al-Maadheed and QRCS Medical Affairs general manager, Dr Abdul-Salam al-Qahtani.
