Emir receives credentials of new ambassadors

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received the credentials of seven new ambassadors to Qatar yesterday. The Emir received the credentials of the ambassadors of South Africa, the Philippines, Hungary, Sri Lanka, Benin, the European Union, and Turkey – Shirish Soni, Alan L. Timbayan, Fodor Barnabas, P.D.P.S.A. Liyanage, Mohamed Bare,, Michele Cervone d’Urso and Fikret Ozer, respectively. The ambassadors conveyed the greetings of leaders of their countries to the Emir. The Emir welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in their missions and the relations between the Qatar and their respective countries further progress and prosperity. Earlier, on arrival at the Emiri Diwan, the ambassadors were accorded official reception ceremonies.FM holds phone conversation with Rex TillersonHE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani held a telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.They discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and the US and means of enhancing them, in addition to the latest regional and international developments of common interest, especially the Syrian issue.Council discusses draft law on domestic workersThe Advisory Council held its regular weekly session yesterday under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Mohammed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.The Council reviewed a draft law on domestic workers and decided to refer it to the Services and Public Utilities Committee for a report thereon to the Council.It also reviewed a draft law on national service and decided to re-introduce it during the next session for further study.Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee studied a draft law on domestic workers and decided to complete its study during another meeting.Qatar-Palestine ties reviewedHE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi met the ambassador of Palestine to Qatar Munir Ghannam. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of developing them, in addition to issues of common concern.
