The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) issued yesterday a circular for all the ports of the country to hold all the consignments of meat products from Brazil and not to release them until samples are taken and their validity for human consumption is confirmed. These products include chicken and beef in all its forms, and types. Apart from clearance from the lab, the cargoes also have to be compliant with the related GCC standard specifications.The circular was issued pursuant to the news about the scandals affecting the Brazilian meat industry. Meanwhile, a spokesperson of one of the prominent importing houses in Qatar told Gulf Times that “their company has already sent samples of meat products to the health department for lab tests”.
