Disgraced footballer loses plea against conviction

Disgraced England footballer Adam Johnson yesterday lost a challenge against his conviction for sexual activity with a 15-year-old fan. His applications for permission to appeal and a reduction in his six-year jail sentence were dismissed at the Court of Appeal. Last year Johnson, 29, admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child in 2015. He also admitted a charge of meeting a child with intent after grooming her.
