Singapore Changi Airport voted world's best for fifth year in a row
Besides nabbing other titles such as the best Asian airport and the best airport globally for leisure amenities, its airport hotel Crowne Plaza was also voted the world's best airport hotel for the third consecutive year.
Changi Airport Group CEO Mr Lee Seow Hiang said the awards were encouragement to the more than 50,000 workers at the airport, ‘every one of whom is passionate about delivering the most memorable airport experience to our passengers,’ he said.
This is the eighth time Changi Airport, which accommodates more than 50 million passengers yearly, has won the title since it was first mooted in 2000.
The awards were tabulated from 13.8 million airport survey questionnaires completed by airline customers of 105 different nationalities across 550 airports worldwide.
Travellers' experiences from check-in through to their departure at the gate were evaluated.
‘Changi Airport continues to innovate product and service facilities for customers, and is making the travel experience at the airport enjoyable and relaxing,’ Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said.
The airport is continuing to improve its offerings by installing beacons as part of a trial to engage travellers through their mobile phones, said Changi's executive vice-president for airport management Tan Lye Teck to The Straits Times today.
