Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) celebrated the National Sport Day yesterday by holding a series of activities for employees and their families to emphasise the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle. QIB Group CEO Bassel Gamal said: “National Sport Day seeks to engage the entire community in Qatar with sport activities, thus fostering the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. By organising this event, we are supporting a core activity undertaken by the government in the critical fields of health and sports.”National Sport Day was launched in 2012 to develop a physically and psychologically-active and healthy society where individuals can build their capabilities and interact with their social environment. It seeks to educate people on the importance of physical activity and help develop and promote a culture of healthy living in the Qatari society. It further engages people in active and entertaining activities and provides information about different sport activities in the State. “National Sports Day event is part of QIB’s corporate social responsibility programme. This particular event is focusing on promoting an active healthy lifestyle among employees and the larger community and once again we are really happy that our employees are strongly involved in all the social responsibility initiatives that we realise,” added Gamal.QIB employees have been participating in various sport activities with the bank’s football team, recently winning the ‘Aspire Banks Tournament Cup’, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation, in partnership with Qatar Central Bank.
