Al Rayyan Municipality combats insect menace

Al Rayyan Municipality's municipal affairs department issued 21 contracts for new garbage collection containers and implemented 1,023 requests to combat insects and 70 to thwart rodents in January.

The gardens department pruned a considerable number of trees and planted 100 Sedr trees in the area in front of the zoo, in addition to replanting a number of other trees in different areas within the municipality.The cemetery services section also conducted a census of the number of graves at Ain Khalid, Al Rayyan and Murayikh and identified the names of those buried. There were 2,136 graves with identifiable names of the owners and 387 yet to be identified. Also tomb stones at Al Rayyan and Murayaikh cemeteries were renovated and work is going on to expand Old Al Rayyan Cemetery.The protection and wildlife department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in co-operation with Al Shamal Municipality, has replanted a Ghaf tree which fell in strong wind.
