More than 760 varieties on offer at ‘Great LuLu Cheese Fest’

The week-long Great LuLu Cheese Fest 2016, organised by LuLu Hypermarket Group under the title, ‘Say Cheese’, got under way yesterday.The festival was officially inaugurated by renowned international cheese and food blogger Rachel Ann Morris at LuLu Hypermarket, Al Gharafa, at 4pm yesterday. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Mubarak Farish, Central Municipal Council member, and several other dignitaries from corporate groups. The festival continues until December 21. In a press statement, LuLu Group said it has been conducting the Cheese Fest for many years. This time, it has been organised in a big way with a wide variety of cheese and cheese products on display, it noted. The festival exhibits more than 760 varieties of cheese and cheese products. Special kiosks and sampling facilities have been arranged for customers to taste the uniqueness of different varieties of cheese.The prominent varieties on offer include Old Roumy cheese, Egyptian Istanbuli cheese, Akawi cheese, fresh low salt soft cheese, Danish feta cheese, Danish mozarella cheese, Danish blue cheese, Kashkaval cow cheese, string cheese, French brie cheese, butter block, Edam ball, Gouda lofes, Italian cheese, Dutch Calora low fat cheese, Butch Hommage goat cheese, Turkish labneh, English Lancashire cheese, Salut cheese, English mature cheddar cheese, French cheese, American cheese, Turkish baguette cheese, German cheese, Canadian cheese, Australian cheese, New Zealand cheese, Denmark cheese and white cheese from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Bulgaria, Jordan and Lebanon, etc. The objective of the festival is to introduce and promote cheese and cheese food products among the local community as well as the large cross-section of ethnic communities hailing from various countries, the statement noted. The event has also been organised with a view to promoting the sale of cheese and cheese products, thereby accelerating imports and expanding the category by adding more varieties from various countries, LuLu has said.
