Pakistan test-fired a ballistic missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead to a target up to 700km away, officials said on Wednesday.“Pakistan conducted a successful test of an enhanced version of the indigenously developed Babur Cruise Missile,” said a statement from Inter-Service Public Relations, the media arm of Pakistani military.The latest iteration of the weapon system uses a terrain-hugging missile that is equipped with stealth technology and can carry various types of warheads.“Babur’s latest version can carry a nuclear warhead,” Amjad Shaoib, a retired lieutenant general, told DPA. He said that the speed of the missile has also been improved.Pakistan and its fellow nuclear-armed neighbour India have fought three wars since the two countries won their independence from Britain in 1947.Babur Cruise Missile being launched from an undisclosed location in Pakistan.
