‘Great interest’ in Sasol’s new technology seen at ADIPEC

Sasol is showcasing its range of special products and surfactants for the application in the oil and gas market at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) in the UAE capital.Sasol’s stand, designed with cultural aspect, highlighted the company’s expertise in the oil and gas industry, in particular the uses of the performance chemicals in the drilling, production chemicals area and for the chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery Process (EOR), and highlighted Sasol’s GTL technology, including Oryx GTL in Qatar. The stand highlighted the South African culture, reflecting the company’s heritage in one side and the Abu Dhabi culture on the other. A section of the booth titled “The Sasol Journey” depicted the various locations of the Sasol international offices and the milestones that the company has achieved in various regions, over its 65 years in operation. The ADIPEC, through over three decades, has become the most important and one of the most influential oil and gas events in the world today. ADIPEC 2016 plays host to over 2,000 exhibiting companies from around the world, 25 international country pavilions showcasing latest innovations and technologies to around 95,000 oil and gas professionals attending, and a conference programme that is the largest in its 32-year history, with over 850 speakers confirmed, covering 162 sessions across four days. Sasol performance chemicals promote the range of high-value product streams, including liquid fuels and chemicals but focusing on the supply of specialised products and high-volume of raw materials for Oilfield and EOR applications.  Sasol representatives from US, Europe, GCC, and China explained to the visitors and customers the product portfolio of the company’s performance chemicals, which range from alcohols, surfactants, hydrogenated base-oils, inorganic viscosity modifiers, solvents, and waxes at Sasol’s facilities around the world that are in significant cases also specifically designed to meet requirements for applications in different regions, in addition to Sasol’s gas-to-liquids operations.During the conference, Dr Renke Rommerskirchen, manager EOR & Oilfield from Sasol’s Research & Development Surfactants, presented a specific presentation about “Reducing the Miscibility Pressure for CO2 EOR application,” showcasing new additives that improve the economics of mature reservoirs, which is an advanced unique technology created by Sasol’s Global R&D team.
