This will be the first time the congress is held in Qatar. The event will offer valuable medical updates and scientific insights on paediatric pulmonology and provide opportunities for delegates to network with peers and learn from the varying experiences in different countries. The main congress programme will take place at Doha’s Sharq Village & Spa, with delegates from Qatar, the GCC region, Arab world and other countries expected to attend. “The Arab Paediatric Pulmonology Association Congress is one of the leading events of its kind in the GCC and the Arab world. Each year leaders in the field of paediatric pulmonology come together to share the latest medical updates and research,” senior consultant and division chief, paediatric pulmonology at HMC, and founding member of APPA, Prof Ibrahim A Janahi said.“Paediatric pulmonologists play a vital role in caring for children with lung conditions. In Qatar, the wider GCC region and the Arab world, we see many cases of children with asthma, chronic coughs and breathing problems. This event provides a unique opportunity for paediatric pulmonologists to strengthen their knowledge and skills so that they are fully equipped to provide the highest international standards of care to their patients,” Prof Janahi said. The chairman of this year’s organising committee and senior consultant paediatric pulmonology at HMC, Dr Muna Maarafiya, highlighted the strength of the programme for the congress: “I am delighted with the calibre of speakers we have recruited for this year’s programme. Leading local, regional and international paediatric pulmonologists and experts will discuss a wide range of topics.”The organising committee has invited abstract submissions for poster presentations for the congress.
