Hot weather with high humidity levels forecast

The country experienced a sultry yesterday and similar conditions are expected to prevail today and in the coming days.While the maximum temperature is likely to hover around the early 40C levels at a number of places today, including Doha, the humidity levels will remain high, particularly at night.In a post on social media yesterday evening, the Qatar Met department said “high humidity (is being) observed now in most areas of the country, reaching 86% in the Hamad airport (area) and expected to increase during (the) night hours”. The detailed forecast for inshore areas today says it will be hazy in some places in the early hours today, followed by a hot day with some clouds. It will be relatively humid by night.Offshore areas, meanwhile, are likely to misty conditions today.The highest temperature in Qatar yesterday was 47C, which was recorded in Turayna, followed by 46C in Batna. In the capital, the mercury level reached a high of 42C in the Doha airport area.Today, the maximum temperature will be 42C in Doha, 41C in Mesaieed and Wakrah and 40C in Al Khor, according to the weather office.Gulf Times had reported yesterday, citing the official weather forecast, that a spell of high humidity was expected to prevail in the country in the coming period. The report referred to a statement issued by the Met department on Friday, which said: “The most important characteristic of this period is the high relative humidity, reaching 85%”.
