A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an Iranian man to 10 years in jail and a fine of QR200,000 for illicit drug possession and dealing, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Wednesday. The court also sentenced his Pakistani friend to six months in jail and QR10,000 for illicit drugs consumption in addition to the subsequent deportation of both. The issue started when the first defendant offered to sell a secret police source some heroin for QR500. Accordingly, the source met him a petrol station where a police patrol trapped him. He admitted making such a deal. A small quantity of heroin, wrapped in paper, was found with him. Some pieces of opium were also hidden in his vehicle. During interrogation, the man told the investigators that he got such illicit drugs from his Pakistani friend, who used to live in the same area. Though a search of the second defendant's house yielded no illicit drugs, a blood test indicated he used to consume hashish. Eventually, the court convicted them based on the related material evidences.
