FM participates in ministerial meeting of Syria support group

Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani participated in the ministerial meeting of the International Syria  Support Group, which was held yesterday in the Austrian capital, Vienna.The meeting discussed the latest developments of the Syrian crisis, and ways to find a political solution in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and Geneva 1 Statement, in addition to ending the cessation of hostilities and taking concrete steps to ensure humanitarian access to all parts of Syria.During the meeting, the foreign minister noted that the political transition in accordance with the Geneva statement 1 is essential, especially in light of the crimes committed by the regime, stressing that there is no place for the future of the Assad regime in Syria.The Foreign Minister reiterated the commitment to the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, and the need to take clear and strict monitoring measures with regard to  violators, stressing the importance of concerted international efforts to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid to all besieged areas, including Aleppo, and the protection of civilians and civilian institutions and hospitals.The meeting was chaired by US Secretary of State John Kerry, , and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, with participation of the foreign ministers of member-states in the International Syria Support Group.
