A construction site at an airport terminal in Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport caught fire on Friday morning, killing at least two people, state media reports said.

At least three others were injured. The fire has since been put out, state broadcaster Central China Television (CCTV) said, without giving details on the severity of the victims' injuries.

The blaze started in an underground construction site of Terminal 1 in the airport and reportedly spread to around 100 square metres.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
