An Indian expatriate got a jail sentence of three months for jumping a traffic red light, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Friday. A Doha Criminal Court also fined him a sum of QR10,000 and suspended his driving license for a month.
The defendant was driving at night when he recklessly jumped a red light on the D-Ring road and narrowly escaped a fatal accident. A policeman saw the incident and stopped him. Immediately, police patrols came to the site and the man was arrested.
A blood test proved he was drunk. At the interrogation, the defendant admitted driving while being intoxicated.
