The Kulluna for Health and Safety Campaign took its message on the importance of child car seats to the GCC Traffic Week events conducted by the Ministry of Interior at Darb Al Saai last week. The 32nd GCC Traffic Week, held under the theme “Your decision determines your destiny”, saw the participation of up to 60 government and non-government entities with each featuring activities to promote safe road use and driving practices. There was also a display of different kinds of car seats available in Qatar as well as workshops by child passenger safety (CPS) technicians featuring how to fit the car seats correctly. Visitors to the event were able to seek advice from Kulluna’s safety experts about the appropriate car seat for their child. Dr Khalid Abdulnoor Saifeldeen, Kulluna chairman and director of Hamad International Training Centre (HITC), said: “We at Kulluna were proud to be asked to participate in the GCC Traffic Week again as it highlights the measures each and every one of us can take on a personal level to make our roads safer.“Many parents who use car seats often have them incorrectly installed and the technicians can spot the mistakes and show the parents how to fix the errors to ensure that their children are safe. It is essential to select the appropriate seat for every child depending on his/her height and weight.“Car-related injuries are preventable accidents and, by educating people at events like the GCC Traffic Week, we are able to spread awareness among the general public about the importance of car seats.” Kulluna and HITC run regular CPS courses for industry professionals and parents.
