HMC exhibition sheds light on home healthcare

Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Home Healthcare Services (HHCS) has conducted a Home Care Day exhibition under the theme “Your health is our primary concern” to highlight the importance of home healthcare in the community and celebrate the work of the multidisciplinary teams comprising the HHCS.HHCS provides holistic and specialised support to patients who have been discharged from the hospital but require follow-up care and rehabilitation. It is part of HMC’s Continuing Care Group that just received Joint Commission International’s accreditation, which recognises the services’ commitment to quality.Held at Bayt Al Dhiyafah at Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City, the exhibition showcased the specialised services provided by the multidisciplinary teams comprising the HHCS, including patient educators, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, subspecialty wound care nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, clinical pharmacists, social workers, private nursing services, medical equipment team, nurses, laboratory, home healthcare physicians, HMC’s mobile doctor service, referral management and the quality management team. HMC officials and other participants visiting the Paediatric Services booth at the exhibition.“We at the HHCS are committed to ensuring that each patient receives the highest standards of care. We are holding this event to create awareness about the service and celebrate the work of the multidisciplinary teams who are responsible for our daily success,” said Khalid al-Qahtani, assistant CEO of HHCS.“We believe that successful outcomes depend on working together. Each of our multidisciplinary teams plays an essential and integral role in providing our patients with the safest, most effective and compassionate care,” the event’s organising team, composed of HHCS assistant executive director of nursing Antonia Limpiada and HHCS directors of nursing Maryam al-Tamimi, Fatma al-Haddad, Asmaa Mahfouz, Aisha Hammam and Amal Nasser al-Saif, said in a statement.About 1,104 patients are currently being cared for under the HHCS. Home healthcare services are provided to patients based on the individual needs of each patient and family. Patients under the service receive scheduled visits to their home by members of their healthcare team, who also work with family members to educate them on proper care of their at-home patients. The exhibition also featured HMC’s health services provider partners and suppliers of medical equipment and consumables.
