Katara hosts coffee festival

Katara - the Cultural Village is set to host from today the first coffee festival under the patronage of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.The festival “My Coffee, My Identity” will run until Monday, from 10am to 10pm daily. It is jointly organised by Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre (QHIC), with the participation of 12 embassies and 30 different entities that would display various varieties of coffee products. The participating countries include Egypt, Cost Rica, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Iran, Thailand, Kenya, turkey, Indonesia, and Argentina. Dr Khalid Yousef al-Mulla, general director, QHIC, said that the festival would be a unique event that blends both national and international identities and links them to modern development. “It will also put focus on the history of coffee in the GCC region. Besides, the festival will include activities that illustrate the links between the different ways of making coffee and different world cultures.
