The prestigious Dubai 24hr International Endurance Series fires up the new year racing calendar this weekend for Qatar’s only International circuit driver, Amro al-Hamad, who is contesting one of the world’s most grueling 24hr endurance races, representing Qatar in this race for the second consecutive year, at Dubai Autodrome. This is the first International endurance race of the new year for GT’s, touring cars and 24H Specials, with one of the largest grids in the world, with a record breaking 100 cars entered this year, making competition even tougher than previous years. In just a few days time the Dubai 24hrs will start at 2:00pm local time on Jan 15th and finish on Saturday 16th at 2:00pm after 24hrs of non-stop racing.Amro will pilot car No 92 alongside Australian drivers Jake Camilleri and Morgan Haber and Dutch driver Milan Dontje.Amro has joined forces again, for the third time, with the formidable MARC Cars Team from Australia. With two team cars entered in the competitive SP2 class, they run with 500bhp 5.0Ltr Ford Focus V8’s, specialized for endurance racing. Amro last raced this same car to victory in the Zandvoort 12hr race in May last year. And in last years Dubai 24hr race the team gained a hard fought second place on the podium. Just a few weeks ago, Amro took a class victory in the CN2 class in the Gulf 12hr endurance race in Abu Dhabi.“This will be my second entry into the 24 hours of Dubai and my fourth endurance race since I started this type of circuit racing, I have been fortunate so far to work with such a professional team as MARC cars and they have a great competitive package so I’m hopeful we can do a good job again,” commented Amro.“My goal for this year is to enter more endurance races with large professional teams to gain more experience and raise the Qatar flag on the podium. We continue to work with our marketing plan to raise awareness about this sport in my own country to attract sponsors and also to International companies. Without support it will be impossible to continue at this high level, as we become more competitive and more successful we need to push harder and that takes investment. So we are talking to professional companies who seek this level of exciting partnership, to join us on this historical journey for Qatar motorsport,” commented Amro ahead of the event.Qualifying takes place tomorrow and the race will be televised Live in Europe on Motors TV and in the Middle East on GearOne TV. The 24hseries will stream the live broadcasting also on their live website. www.live.24hseries.com.
