Al Shaqab Hotel formally opens

Al Shaqab Hotel,  which had a soft opening in October 2014, was officially launched yesterday. Located next to Al Shaqab Equestrian Complex in the Education City of the Qatar Foundation, the hotel is managed by Amlak Hospitality.The major specialties of the hotel are health driven cuisines, equestrian facilities and training as well as a resort experience. The non-alcoholic and non-smoking hotel offers a cuisine featuring organic food items. The main hotel building has two floors with a restaurant, which serves a ‘healthy breakfast,’ four meeting or board rooms and 70 rooms. Qatar’s only certified organic farm, Al Safwa, supplies vegetables to the restaurant. The hotel also offers airport transfers.Speaking at the launch event, Al Shaqab Hotel general manager Karim Abdelhamid said the facility is designed to redefine the boutique hotel experience.Horse carriages will be used to arrange tours for guests.“Al Shaqab Hotel promotes healthy, active lifestyles with a special focus on physical activities and a balanced diet. Marwan Club is named after Marwan Al Shaqab, the award-winning 2000 bay Arabian stallion. The venue has a fitness zone, swimming pool as well as steam and sauna rooms and Kids Zone where children are taken care of by well-trained childcare specialists. The hotel also offers an innovative stay, ride and swim package. This new offering enables guests to stay at the hotel, enjoy the exceptional equestrian facilities at Al Shaqab and cool off in the pool at Marwan Club. The hotel team will arrange tours of Al Shaqab stables and paddocks for its guests. The hotel mainly targets families, domestic holiday makers as well as conference delegates who attend the events at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The room rent per night starts from QR495 for king size rooms and QR560 for double-bedded superior rooms with breakfast.
