With the theme to make every member of the audience a ‘superstar’, the Bollywood bash welcoming 2016 in town promises to be a grand production with a VIP arena and some mouth-watering Indian food.‘Superstar’, dubbed as the biggest Bollywood New Year Eve’s show in Doha, a huge attraction among the local Indian community, urges the audience to dress like their favourite superstars for the event and walk the red carpet.Experience and renowned music producer Zamaika will headline the show at Marriott Doha on New Year’s Eve. Warming up and closing for him is the new rage in Doha DJ AX3. He has already played music at all the premium spots in Doha.Coming from Hyderabad, Zamaika has over two decades of experience around the world.“Being a DJ has taken me on a journey of discovery across cultures and through a variety of musical genres,” says Zamaika in his introduction, adding that he now feels as if he not only has an intimate knowledge of the very soul that inspires artistes across the years, but he also has a very real understanding of what people of diverse backgrounds and outlooks want when they are out clubbing.“I am a restless person, always trying to discover some new dimension to what I do. That is how I developed the brand ‘UnDesi’, my special take on Bollywood music. UnDesi has caught on like wildfire, and has its own growing following,” says the music producer from India. In his intro blog, he says if you have a passion for music, the rhythm takes you in the direction you are meant to go. “At least that is the way it has been for me. What I am looking for an audience that needs to be revived with the right kind of beat. I have one of the largest collections of music and my joy lies in sharing it. My best thrill is getting behind my console and watching people as the rhythm works its magic on them,” says Zamaika, who is also known as DJ Zam.The ability to gauge an audience, know instinctively what it is feeling and what it is looking for is his forte. His console, he says, is an extension of himself. It is an extension of who he is and it truly expresses the way he feels. It defines everything that motivates him.Zamaika’s experience is a medley of different musical encounters. His career has taken him back and forth across cities. His first encounter with Hyderabad was when he was invited to be the resident Deejay for The Pyramid at the City’s exclusive Country Club.Zamaika says he deems his privilege to have been instrumental in introducing Hyderabad to the clubbing culture, infusing his music with the flavours of Mumbai’s vibrant night life.“I followed the beat, as it were, back to Mumbai, to work with DJ Whosane and DJ Asad on a breakthrough project, Audiophile, along with DJ Luke Kenny rocking crowds at some of the best clubs like Sheetal, Wild Orchid, Go Bananas and Wig Wam,” says Zamaika.Over the past two decades since he first DJed at The Cellar (The Oberoi, Mumbai), Zamaika believes that DJs are born, not made. While he had another career path mapped out, he was inexplicably drawn into the world of music and slipped effortlessly into the groove, he adds.He spins everything from Desi (Bollywood) and Hip Hop to House (Commercial, Club and Funky House), Trance, Retro (60s, 70s,80s and 90s) and Classic Rock.Hyderabad lured him back, and in between countless corporate launch parties and being a resident DJ for clubs like Passport, Diva and Where Else, he had the exciting opportunity to conceptualise a club dedicated to rock music lovers. It was called Easy Rider, and Zamaika DJed there until a landmark assignment took him to the prestigious India Club in Dubai, where he is still invited to perform. “I believe that knowledge shared is experience gained. Sharing my experience with new DJs, like DJ Amyth, has been a part of who I am and what I stand for,” says Zamaika. For him, collaborations have been extremely rewarding as they have helped him evolve. He has also realised, he says, that music has limitless potential. There are so many different flavours and innumerable facets to music.
