Binesh Tamang elected new chairman of NRNA-NCC

Binesh Tamang has been elected as the new chairman of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association-National Coordination Council (NRNA-NCC) in Qatar. The elections for the working committee of the council for 2015-16 were held on Friday at the Nepalese embassy. Tamang gathered 747 votes, while his competitor Arjun Bhattarai got 707 votes.Hansaraj Dhakal and Binod Bhattarai were elected as the International Coordination Council (NRNA-ICC) representatives. Nagendra Prasad Pokharel was elected the first vice chairman and Prabin Gurung the second vice-chairman of the council. Likewise, Nanda Prasad Garbuja was elected the general secretary, Uttam Kumar Shah the secretary, Bhejraj Parajuli the treasurer, Sangita Thing the women co-ordinator, and Lil Bahadur GC was elected the youth co-ordinator. Mina Khadka was elected as the female member of the council. Bhupati Bhattarai, Maila Waiba, Bhim Bahadur Magar, Mehbub Alam and Shakti Chhetri were elected as members. Tej Katuwal, Mohammed Rahmet Hussein, Thakur Kumar Damai, Man Bahadur KC, and Krishna Kumar Ayer are the new members representing each development region of Nepal. Mohammed Saralakwari and Mohammed Ayub were elected as members from the Muslim community, Chandra Dev Yadav and Maheshwor Mandal from the Madhesi community, Raju Maharjan and Khim Bahadur Rana Magar from indigenous communities, and Prakash Pariyar and Prem Bahadur Bishwokarma were elected as representatives from the Dalit community. A total 1,714 members of the NRNA-NCC in Qatar voted in the elections for the new working committee. The organisation has 2,807 members in the country and is the Qatar chapter of NRNA, a global network of Nepalese expats.
