Masoud clinches double trap gold

By Sports Reporter/DohaMasoud Ali al-Athba won the men’s double trap gold at the Qatar Cup Shooting and Archery Championship at the Losail Ranges yesterday. In the final, Masoud defeated Hamad Ali al-Marri, who qualified with 27 shots each in the semi-finals. Masoud with a near flawless performance missed only one before winning the title. Marri, who had topped the qualification round with 139, missed three and had to be satisfied with the silver medal. The bronze medal match was also a keen contest between Hamad Masoud al-Athba and Rashid Ali al-Maddad. The former managed a win (27-24) to secure the third place. Earlier, Hamad Masoud and Rashid Hamad al-Athba were involved in a two-way shoot-off in the semi-finals for a place in the bronze medal match.
