Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has been honoured with the Healthcare Company of the Year award at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2015 held in Dubai recently.

Awards were handed out for 16 categories to companies from across the Arab world, with the independent judging panel looking for companies that have made the most positive impact over the last 12 months.

As winner of the Healthcare Company of the Year category, HMC was recognised for its outstanding achievements in providing high-quality healthcare services and, in particular, for its public awareness campaigns.

Hanan al-Kuwari, managing director of HMC, said: “Over the past year we have continued to work hard to deliver the safest, most effective and most compassionate care to each and every one of our patients. Many new services and facilities have been introduced as we expand to meet the needs of Qatar’s growing population. We have also opened new specialist clinics providing care tailored to the specific needs of different population groups, including diabetes, cancer and long-term care.”

Improving the health of the population of Qatar is a priority for HMC, explained Ali Abdulla al-Khater, executive director of Corporate Communications, who attended the awards ceremony.

“This award is testament to the hard work of our teams and their commitment to raising awareness in Qatar about important health issues. Over the past few years we have placed great importance on promoting health in the community. We have run public awareness campaigns for stroke and diabetes, while our Kulluna campaign has focused on improving health and safety in Qatar,” he said.

HMC’s stroke and diabetes campaigns have proved highly impactful and promoted the signs and symptoms of these important health issues as well as preventative measures. The campaigns use numerous channels to communicate with the target population groups. Cinema, radio, print and online advertising, social media and information booths in malls have all been utilised to educate the public during the campaigns.

“HMC is the most comprehensive provider of specialised healthcare services in Qatar. Each year, our skilled and dedicated clinical teams care for patients on around two-and-a-half million occasions. Our everyday experiences of treating a wide range of conditions mean we are perfectly positioned to understand the importance of health education in the prevention of ill health. We are committed to supporting a healthy population in Qatar by improving the health of our patients and the wider community,” added al-Khater.
