Summer inspirations at the Music Lounge’s ‘Hakuna Matata’
The Music Lounge students cooled their summer with colours and music.By Umer NangianaEnd of another summer break, a great vacation. For some, it was much more than just a retreat. For them, it was the close of an amazing dream that set alight a flame of passion for creativity and gave them a glimpse of the power of imagination that’s lies within.Hakuna Matata, the Music Lounge summer camp for 2015, set open a new door of possibilities for its participants by giving them opportunities to explore their talents and take a journey through self-discovery mixed with a whole lot of fun.Hakuna Matata, meaning ‘no worries’, was a welcome respite from the pressures of school and provided the participating students time to rejuvenate. The students of Music Lounge Summer Camp spent their days challenging their creativity.“The centre is dedicated to bring out the complete personality of its students through art, music, dance and language,” said Jaisen George, the Director of Music Lounge.Putting together a gallery of art works and handicrafts to decorate the centre, the students also learned new methods and sets of skills on creating new art. They were able to unleash their imagination in colour and artistic expressions, guided by the art instructor, Jomon Jose.Everybody loves to sing, and they did sing. Manu Marshal engaged the campers with great songs that filled their hearts with joy. With regular sessions of sing along, the campers swayed, clapped and danced as they had fun with great music. The profound ability of musicians to create expressions through sound and vibrations has captured the imagination of man throughout history. An introduction to musical instruments was given to the students to ignite a passion for musical creativity in them. Manu Marshal, Babu Varghese and Prabudha Desilva gave special coaching to help start the campers on their musical journey.Moving in the grove of the music with styles as varied as break dancing, Latin, Indian classical and free style was Sadhara, introducing the campers to new dance moves. Thrilling the students with group performances and solo acts, the dance sessions proved to be a great success. Accompanying the exhilarating dance training was the important art of yoga to help develop mental focus and physical stamina of the summer camp participants.Paintings for the mind, music for soul and dance for the body, the camp brought all three, the mind, soul and body together to help ignite the creative personality of the students eager to explore new horizons. The development of expressions through words in relaying ideas is the key to a successful future. Therefore, to help harness the participating students’ ability to effectively communicate, Jaisen George trained the teens in public speaking, showing them how to stand in front of an audience to express ideas and showcase a complete personality. The centre also engaged the campers in in-door games, quizzes, movies, fashion show, magic and a special visit to the Qatar Museum of Islamic Art. The centre is open for all ages to explore their potential and help develop talents to promote artistic learning and creativity.Music Lounge is an accredited centre for Trinity Collage of London providing professional training on Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Violin, Art, Dance, Yoga and Communication skills.
