Al Meera opens its second branch in Wakrah
Doha
Al Meera Consumer Goods Company has announced the opening of its newest branch in Al Wakrah, marking the 44th addition to the supermarket chain.
The 2,470sqm branch, the second in Wakrah, includes 1,926sqm of supermarket area.
The opening ceremony was led by Dr Mohamed Nasser al-Qahtani, deputy CEO of Al Meera Consumer Goods Company. Also present were Mohamed Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, board member; Saeed M al-Nabet, administration affairs manager; Khalid al-Jassim, safety and security manager; and other heads of directorates.
"The new branch adheres to international standards of construction and décor to provide customers with a convenient shopping experience," the company said in a statement.
The store offers shoppers a wide variety of food and non-food related items as well as fresh products. It includes a butchery, fishery, delicatessen, fruits and vegetables area and bakery, according to the statement.
The branch will feature an array of shops and restaurants that are set to open soon.
Further, the new outlet has “state-of-the-art” elements similar to those found in all other new outlets of the company. These include hi-tech lighting and storage techniques and technologies. “The branch’s world-class shelves highly reflect the company’s keenness to offer the best product display to its customers,” the statement noted.
On the occasion, Dr al-Qahtani stressed that the opening of the branch was the result of the “massive growth” witnessed by Al Wakrah, whose rising population required a second branch to meet the local requirements.
“Al Meera continuously seeks to support Qatar National Vision 2030 in its plan to develop all areas of the nation. We are very pleased to be serving yet another segment of the Qatari community and look forward to the opening of our upcoming branches,” he said.
Since the beginning of 2015, Al Meera has opened seven stores at Muaither, Al Azizia, Muraikh, Gulf Mall, Thakhira, Jeryan Njeima and Al Wakrah. It will launch three more branches this year at Al Thumama, Al Wajbah and Rawdat Ekdeem. These stores will open weeks apart after obtaining necessary approvals and licences from the relevant authorities, the statement adds.
This comes as part of the company’s plan to becoming a network of 56 branches throughout Qatar.
Within the framework of its future projects, Al Meera plans to establish two additional branches, characterised by a unique design, in Al Jamiliyah and Al Shamal. The company also continues to rehabilitate its old branches to integrate them with the new innovative concept.
