Nepalese film Resham Filili screened
By Usha Wagle GautamNepalese in Qatar got a chance to watch Resham Filili on the second day Eid al-Fitr at Global Cinema Hall in Doha. The highly anticipated Nepalese film was released on April 25, but failed to make much money due to the earthquake. Directed by Pranab Joshi, the film’s song Jaalma was YouTube hit before its release. Vinaya Shrestha, Karma Shakya, Kameshwor Chaurasia and Menuka Pradhan have played the lead roles in the movie that revolves around the comic tale of two lovers. About 500 Nepalese enjoyed the movie during the recent screening. The film portrays the story of a Nepalese youth who aspires to come to Qatar for work. The youth is later deceived and overcharged by a manpower agency, which sends him elsewhere. The film tries to explore the exploitation of Nepalese youths by manpower agencies. The film also addresses ethnic tensions in the country, with two characters becoming best friends despite hailing from different regions. Organiser Nigma Sharma said the re-screening of the movie will be held on August 21 at the same venue. He further mentioned that leading actor Vinaya Shrestha will be in Qatar during the second screening.Maheswor Thapa, who attended the screening, said the movie portrays the condition of Nepalese youth realistically. “On the contrary, I didn’t have to face such manpower agency,” Thapa said, “Instead I had acquired free visa and free air ticket from the company itself.”
