Berlin: Four-time Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel is to take part in the Race of Champions (ROC) event in London this November, event organisers said yesterday. The race involves drivers from different motorsport disciplines competing against each other in the same car. It takes place November 20-21 at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home of the 2012 Olympic Games. Tom Kristensen, record winner of the Le Mens 24-hour race, world rallycross champion Petter Solberg and reigning ROC champion David Coulthard are among drivers already confirmed to take part. Ferrari driver Vettel is no stranger to the race having first entered as partner to Michael Schumacher in 2007. The German pair won a record six ROC Nations Cups in succession. “I’m looking forward to returning to the Race Of Champions, which I’ve enjoyed competing in since my Formula 1 debut in 2007,” Vettel told the ROC homepage. “It is going to be very exciting to race cars in the stadium that hosted the 2012 London Olympic Games. “Of course I’ll miss having Michael as my teammate this time but I’ll try my best to bring the ROC Nations Cup trophy back to Germany and to win my first individual ROC title. That is one trophy that is still missing from my collection.”
