Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Mourtajez wins in france
Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Mourtajez wins the Coupe du Sud-Ouest des Pur-sang arabes (Gr3), on Tuesday, in La Teste (France), in front of TM Thunder Struck, owned by Umm Qarn. This is Al Mourtajez’s fifth victory at a Group level. His last success was in the Emir’s Sword (Gr1 PA) in Doha, in February, where he won brilliantly in front of Djainka des Forges. Thomas Fourcy’s pupil led the race from start to finish and managed to win easily. His trainer explained: “The horse did a good race for his comeback. He needed to run. He was a bit fresh and not always easy in the morning. It is why I wanted him to run today before his first big objective on the 1st of August, in the Qatar Harwood International Stakes.” Sir Bani Yas, representing the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan’s colours finished third.
