Romanian minister received

HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi has received Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Daniel Constantin in his office. They discussed ways of co-operation and development in agriculture between the two countries.Economy ministers discuss trade relationsHE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani yesterday met Romanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Tourism Mihai Tudose and his accompanying delegation.During the meeting they discussed means to develop relations between Qatar and Romania in the economic, trade and investment fields as well as aspects of mutual co-operation.Qatar and Romania have a number of economic and trade agreements.Employee in court for abusing postAn employee at a local communications firm is being tried by a Doha Misdemeanour Court for allegedly abusing his official post and defaming others, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.The matter came to light after a man reported to the police that an unidentified person had posted abusive comments in his account on social media.Upon investigation, police found that the said employee used his mobile phone to create an account and used it to post the abusive material.Foreign Ministry official gets ‘Ambassador of Peace Award’The Universal Peace Federation awarded Dr Mutlaq Majid al-Qahtani, director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organisations and Conferences the ‘Ambassador for Peace Award’ at a grand ceremony in the New Zealand city of Auckland. By winning the ‘Ambassador of Peace Award,’ Dr al-Qahtani joins an elite group of international leaders and officials who have pledged to build the community and make it aware of the principles of peace and spread their people’s great culture in the world. Addressing the ceremony, Dr al-Qahtani said: “It is a great honour for me to receive the Ambassador of Peace Award.”  He stressed that acceptance of the award comes with gratitude and modesty on behalf of the oppressed everywhere in the world, and on behalf of peace-loving people who stood bravely against the forces of tyranny.Attorney General in talks with Spanish officialHE the Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri met here yesterday with the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Ignacio Ybanez and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting Doha.During the meeting, they exchanged views on a host of issues of common concern and also discussed means to strengthen bilateral co-operation in the judicial field.Ministerial decisionHE Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa al-Thani issued yesterday a decision to determine the geographic borders of Al Shahaniya municipality in accordance with the co-ordinates attached to the decision.Strong winds at noon forecastQatar is expected to be affected by northwesterly to northerly wind, from today until the end of the week, the Met Office has forecast.The wind may become strong today afternoon, ranging between 10-20 knots and gusting up to 23 knots in some areas. High waves in the sea, reaching up to 7ft in some areas, are also expected.The maximum temperature is to reach between 41 and 43C in Doha city., which would be slightly higher than other areas.Forklifts, vehicle body productionGulf Automobile Industry Corporation has recently started a production line in Qatar where forklifts and vehicle bodies are manufactured, chairman Dr Nasser al-Hajiri told local Arabic daily Al Watan. Speaking on the sidelines of  ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition on Saturday, he said the firm is set to start a big vehicle plant in Qatar and it is expected to be ready for production by the middle of next year.Independence Day greetingsHH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifah al-Thani have sent  cables of congratulations to Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.Advisory Council panel meetsAdvisory Council’s Financial and Economic Affairs Committee held a meeting yesterday during the council’s 43rd ordinary session under the presidency of its rapporteur Mohamed Ajaj al-Kubaisi. The meeting discussed a draft law to amend some of the provisions of Law No 26 of 2008 on rationalising electricity and water consumption.
