Qatar Airways wins kudos for punctuality

Qatar Airways has picked up two awards from two major global airports for its best on-time performance in 2014.Dubai Airports, which owns and manages Dubai International Airport, honoured Qatar Airways with a Gold award for its 84.3% on-time performance average in the “over 2,000 movements” category.The award was received on behalf of Qatar Airways by the airline’s airport service manager for Dubai, Chehade Saad. The award ceremony was attended by senior aviation dignitaries of the UAE and representatives of various international airlines that operate to and from Dubai.Qatar Airways has also been awarded for its on-time performance in Seoul, South Korea, by Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), which recently held the Incheon Airport 2014 Airline Awards. The IIAC selected airlines based on their on-time percentage, check-in waiting time, baggage handling, passenger survey for services, level of contribution to the airport’s growth and passenger percentage.Qatar Airways competed with nearly 20 other carriers and won the Best Airline of the Year Award in the group of over 200,000 passengers carried in 2014. Baek-Jae Kim, the airline’s airport service manager for Seoul, collected the award on behalf of Qatar Airways at an award ceremony held at Incheon International Airport.“These two awards are a direct testament to Qatar Airways’ ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our passengers and to ensure that they receive a seamless travel experience,” said the airline’s Group chief executive, Akbar al-Baker. “On-time performance is a critical factor considered by passengers while selecting which airline to fly with and Qatar Airways has always prioritised this throughout the last 18 years of our operations.”Qatar Airways has won multiple awards recently, including being named “World’s Most Dependable Airline” in a comprehensive study of all major carriers, published by CBS MoneyWatch and conducted by travel site WanderBat. Qatar Airways was chosen to lead a select list of 22 international airlines based on on-time percentage, low cost to check bags and average age of its airline fleet.
