Dolphins flop Jordan facing season-long drug ban

Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan is to be suspended for the entirety of the upcoming 2015 season after violating the NFL’s drug policy for the third time in two years, reports said Tuesday. The 25-year-old linebacker is facing a season on the sidelines after a sample was found to be diluted, indicating he may have been attempting to mask a substance in his system, NFL.com reported. Jordan will not appeal the latest suspension to stall his career, reports said, which comes after he was suspended for six games last season for separate offences. He was initially banned for the opening four games of the 2014 campaign after testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing substance. That penalty was later rescinded after two matches but a further violation forced him to miss four more games later in the year. Jordan has largely disappointed for Miami since being snapped up as the top defensive player in the 2013 draft, recording just three sacks and 46 tackles in 26 games over two seasons. Meanwhile, the New York Jets were hit with a $100,000 tampering fine from the NFL for owner Woody Johnson’s comments about cornerback Darrelle Revis, according to a report. Revis, who became a free agent after spending last season with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, signed with the Jets last month. Three days before the 2015 NFL Draft, Missouri defensive end Shane Ray was ticketed for marijuana possession, and the citation could wind up costing himmns. Ray reportedly also failed a drug test early in his time at Missouri. The latest incident automatically puts Ray in the first phase of the NFL’s substance abuse program, ESPN reported Tuesday, meaning he will not face league disciplinary action but will be subjected to random drug testing.
