QFA vice president Saoud al-Mohanandi presents a miniature Emir Cup trophy to Ooredoo CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani.By Sports Reporter/DohaQatar Football Association (QFA), the governing body of football in Qatar, and Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading communications company, yesterday announced the renewal of a one-year partnership agreement that names Ooredoo as the “Official Telecommunications Partner of HH the Emir Cup 2014/2015”.The contract was signed at QFA’s headquarters, Al Bidda Tower, by Ooredoo CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani and QFA vice president Saoud al-Mohannadi. They were accompanied by Hamad al-Kuwari, Acting Executive Director – Operations in QFA, and Mustafa al-Qatami, Director of Branding and Corporate Communications in Ooredoo. Ooredoo CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani said: “As part of our support for sport in the country, we are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the QFA to build a stronger relationship with Qatar’s sports fans in 2015. Football has the ability to inspire connect the diverse population of Qatar, and we are excited to be working on this year’s tournament, which promises to be the biggest and best yet.”He added: “Ooredoo and the QFA have a long-standing strategic relationship that has delivered some incredible sporting action over the years, and we are determined to offer even more in 2015. This year, we will present a range of activities and services for fans, players, sponsors and organisers that will delight and amaze them all when the Emir Cup kicks off.” QFA vice president Saoud al-Mohannadi commented: “We are delighted to sign this partnership agreement with a global telecommunications company such as Ooredoo, to support the country’s most prestigious tournament of the year. As the main telecommunications partner for HH The Emir Cup, Ooredoo is encouraging as many people as possible to attend and share the incredible atmosphere with their bigger and faster network at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium.The Emir Cup is the last tournament of the season and the final match will take place this year on May 23 in Thani Bin Jassim Stadium (Al Gharafa Sports Club). The upcoming period will witness the announcement of the date and location of the official draw, in which the competition venues for the preliminary stages, and match schedule will be revealed.
