Sweden offers help to set up Smart City in Qatar

Sweden can help to set up a Smart City in Qatar, ambassador Ewa Polano has told the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani.During a meeting this week, the Swedish envoy invited the minister to visit Sweden, its SymbioCity, Hammarby Sjostad, and meet engineers who can help set up a Smart City in Qatar. For Swedish engineers and construction companies who would like to come and do a presentation “the door is always open,” the Minister responded, according to a statement issued yesterday by the Swedish embassy. Ambassador Polano talked about Swedish innovation and entrepreneurship and the dream to open, at Education City or Qatar University, a Swedish Innovation Centre for Research & Development. Swedish company Ericsson’s ‘Networked Society’ was also discussed as part of a pilot project to a Smart City to be developed in Qatar.
