The two-day spring meeting of the Institute of International Finance, which began in Doha yesterday, featured a “dynamic” line-up of industry experts and public sector officials, covering issues central to the global finance industry, with a particular focus on current developments in the oil markets, their potential impact on the global economy, and geopolitical implications. In addition to providing insights on the global economy’s prospects and risks, speakers shared their thoughts on topics such as India and China, Mena and Islamic finance, as well as emerging and frontier markets and infrastructure. The chief guest at the opening session was HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani. The keynote address at the opening day of the event was delivered by HE the Minister of Finance, Ali Sherif al-Emadi. Hundreds of bankers and financial experts from all over the world are attending the event at the Ritz-Carlton.
