QNA/DohaHH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani received the Crown Prince of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie, at the Emiri Diwan yesterday. Their meeting, attended by the delegation accompanying Prince Guillaume, reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin mohamed al-Thani also met with Prince Guillaume and his accompanying delegation. Discussions during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to boost them They also reviewed aspects of co-operation, especially in economic, trade and investment fields. The State of Qatar and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg have economic, trade and investment relations, and are linked by a number of agreements in the economic field, such as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for economic, commercial and technical co-operation in 2011, the Convention on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion in 2009, as well as an agreement on co-operation in the financial field in 2011.Meanwhile, Prince Guillaume and his wife Princess Stephanie Marie Claudine of Luxembourg yesterday visited Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) along with an accompanying delegation. During the visit, Prince Guillaume was briefed on QF’s history, its future vision, goals, social programmes and scientific research programmes as well as its initiatives in the field of sustainability and preservation of the environment. Prince Guillaume praised QF’s role and expressed his admiration over its programmes and projects. Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani accompanied Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie during the visit.Prince Guillaume and his wife also visited the Museum of Islamic Art along with an accompanying delegation. They examined collections at the museum, which houses masterpieces of Islamic art, including wood and metal crafts, pottery, jewellery, textiles, coins and glass. They also toured the museum’s latest exhibition on legendary animals in Islamic art. After the tour, Luxembourg’s grand duke signed in the museum’s honorary record, expressing his admiration of the museum’s collections and Islamic artefacts. The museum’s administration presented Prince Guillaume with a copy of a book on the museum’s design and collections.Prince Guillaume arrived in Doha earlier yesterday on a two-day visit to the country. The prince and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival in Doha by HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari, Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani, and Dutch Ambassador to Qatar, Yvette van Eechoud.
