A citizen has expressed concern over the overflow and accumulation of sewage and rainwater on streets in the Industrial Area, Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported. He points out that such conditions sometimes prevail for weeks, or even months, as the water is not removed. As a result, foul smell emanates from such spots, he notes. The citizen said any person who visits the area or passes through its internal roads can find stagnant water at different places, including near some shops and garages. He also wanted to know why the water was not removed on time, according to the report. He is quoted as saying this is a recurring problem, especially in the rainy season when rainwater accumulates in various places and gets mixed with overflowing sewage water. This leads to the formation of puddles, which are a source of foul smell and also help the spread of insects. He hoped that adequate water removal equipment is deployed in the Industrial Area to do the job without any delay, the report states.
