Qatar’s embassies celebrate Sport Day

QNA/DohaQatar’s embassies abroad have held a series of events to celebrate the National Sport Day. Qatar’s embassy in the UAE organised several events at its premises for diplomats and staff on the occasion of the Sport Day with participation of Qatar’s Ambassador to UAE Faris bin Roumi al-Nuaimi. Al-Nuaimi said the embassy had prepared to celebrate the Sports Day based on the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to raise awareness about the importance of sport and its role in the life of individuals and community as a platform for a healthy life, adding that sport is an integral part of Arab and Islamic heritage and culture. Meanwhile, Qatar’s embassy in China celebrated National Sport Day with the participation of the country’s Ambassador to Beijing Ahmed bin Saeed Jabor al-Rumaihi. The activities featured football and table tennis competitions in addition to walking, with the ambassador, diplomats and staff taking part in the activities held in Beijing’s Chaoyang Park. The Qatari embassy in Jakarta organised a sports day in which Qatar’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohamed bin Khater al-Khater participated along with diplomats, staff and some members of Arab embassies as well as state-owned enterprises operating in Indonesia such as Qatar Airways, Qatar National Bank, Indosat  Ooredoo and Qatar Charity. In Dubai, Qatar’s consulate held sports activities at Al Wasl Club on the occasion of the Sports Day, in the presence of HE Consul General Ahmed bin Ali al-Tamimi, diplomats, staff and some officials from the club. Qatar’s embassy in  Bahrain also celebrated the National Sport Day. Qatari Ambassador Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani and members of the diplomatic corps along with the embassy’s staff and children walked at Khalifah Park. Qatar’s embassy in Oman staged a number of sports activities at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex attended by diplomats, staff and their families, as well as several diplomats and staff of other Arab embassies.In Costa Rica, the staff of Qatar’s embassy gathered in the country’s largest park, La Sabana, where there are sports, cultural and entertainment areas, football, tennis, table tennis and basketball fields, swimming pool, a small lake and a playground.Meanwhile, Qatar’s embassy in Brunei Darussalam held several sports activities attended by  embassy’s diplomats and staff and their families.The programme included horse riding, running and football.Qatar’s embassy in Warsaw organised an entertainment sport day attended by the embassy’s staff, local employees and their families, as well as a number of Arab diplomats and foreign guests. In Washington, Qatar’s embassy organised a sports day at Francis-Stevens Education Campus attended by the embassy’s diplomats and school students. In Tehran, Qatar’s embassy organised a similar event in which Qatar’s Ambassador to Iran Ali bin Hamad al-Sulaiti participated along with diplomats and staff of the mission. Qatar’s embassy in Khartoum also celebrated the Sport Day by organising a sports ceremony at the embassy, which drew the participation of a large crowd of sports figures in Sudan.Pages 11,12 and 13
