For Ashghal, beach becomes playground

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) celebrated yesterday National Sport Day, in the presence of president Nasser bin Ali al-Mawlawi, senior officials, employees and their families, as well as the employees and families of collaborating consultants and contractors.Ashghal organised a special programme on the beach of Katara - the cultural village. The participants competed in several games and tournaments including beach football and beach volleyball.As for children and younger age groups, Ashghal organised a number of entertaining sports activities, as well as a dedicated programme for physical activities that included games and sport competitions. The day concluded with an award ceremony for the winning teams.Abdulla Saad al-Saad, manager, public relations and communications, said: “National Sports Day is a national initiative that is not only limited to entertainment, but also generate interest to engage in sport and to make sport an integral part of everyone’s daily lifestyle.”
