Sewer problem needs permanent solutionDear Sir,There seems to be some sewer problem on the Sufwan Bin Ummaya Street in the Bin Omran area. A pump sucks sewage from one manhole and deposits it into another manhole nearby. This has been going on for more than a month now. The pumping of sewage, it seems, is just a temporary solution to the problem. This needs to be fixed permanently. Stop-gap arrangements will not do. Because of this, one side of the road is always closed to traffic, causing huge problems to motorists passing this way. It often causes traffic jams on this stretch. This is quite frustrating for residents in the area.I request Ashghal to look into this problem and fix it permanently. Terror attacks in any form are dangerous and to be condemned. Thousands of people assembled in Paris last week to protest against the militant attacks on the Charlie Hebdo magazine. But at the same time, the whole world had ignored a massacre that took place in Nigeria earlier this month, killing almost 2,000 civilians. Even the media has not given the Nigerian horror the attention it deserved, whereas the coverage of the Paris attack was exhaustive with various television channels conducting long debates and discussions over it.The Paris incident was indeed shocking and reprehensible. But terror everywhere needs to be stopped. In many countries around the world, terror attacks happen almost every day. This proves that the so-called war on terror has not been effective at all.
