Preparations for voters’ registration for the 5th Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections have been completed.
An Interior Ministry press release issued yesterday said 29 constituencies in various areas of Qatar have been set for the presentation of voter registration forms for both male and female citizens from 4 to 7pm.
Registration will begin on Sunday, January 11 and run through January 22 and will be followed by the announcement of voters’ lists.
Applications for deletion and addition in the voters’ lists can be made from January 28 to February 5, the statement said.
To benefit from the advantage of modern technology and to facilitate the process for citizens, the CMC elections Supervisory Committee has allowed citizens to register via Metrash2 service.
A voter shall be an original Qatari or acquired the Qatari nationality 15 years ago, and shall not be under the age of 18 calendar years, not have been convicted in a case involving a breach of honour or trust, unless he has been rehabilitated, shall be a resident in the electoral district in which he has the right to vote and shall not be a member of the armed forces or the police.
