Katara names winners of formative arts and photography contests

Katara - the Cultural Village has announced the winners of the formative arts and photography contests held in connection with the dhow festival.

The first prize winner in the formative arts contest, Muamar Ali Tazay, got a sum of QR100,000. The second prize winner, Samah Nabil al-Lulu, got QR50,000 while the third prize winners - Abdulrahman Mohamed al-Mutawah, Saeedah Habib and Rasha Jad - took home QR15,000 each.

For the photography contest, the first prize winner, Feros Syed Mohamed, got QR50,000, while the second prize winner, Saleh Hamad Minayjar, received QR40,000. The third prize winner, Ziyad Farhoud, got QR30,000, fourth prize winner Omar Abdulbari al-Sururi received QR20,000 and fifth prize winner Nuha Ibrahim Hamid got QR10,000.

The award committee had received 23 works in the formative arts category from participants hailing from Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan and other countries. In the photography contest, the committee received as many as 1,695 pictures from 306 participants.

Five winners were selected in each contest.
