Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari and other guests at the opening ceremony of the new technical inspection facility at Wadi al-Banat yesterday.

A new centre for technical inspection of vehicles (Fahes) will open soon in Doha’s Mesaimeer area, followed by centres at Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Shahaniya and Al Khor during next year.

“Qatar Fuel (Woqod) will also establish in future several new smart inspection centres at its fuel stations where sufficient space is available,” CEO Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari explained yesterday at the inauguration of a new centre at Wadi al-Banat, in the vicinity of Qatar University.

The ceremony was attended by Woqod board members, representatives of the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Department and other senior Woqod officials.

The new centre, which occupies an area of 7,500sq m and built at a cost of QR23mn, is the first among Woqod’s Smart Fahes inspection projects.

“This centre comes as part of a series of smart inspection centres that are being currently developed by Woqod in various regions of the Qatar,” said al-Kuwari.

The new centres, according to al-Kuwari, are built according to the highest standards to ensure comfort and smooth workflow.

Additionally, the centres provide the necessary parking spaces and modern infrastructure, including restrooms, cafeteria as well as waiting and entertainment areas.

The centres are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to ensure highly accurate outcomes that meet the highest environmental and safety standards, in co-operation with a specialised international company.

Fahes smart inspection centres will also feature the single window system that is directly connected to the Traffic Department. The first stage of the system is to establish a direct connection between each individual centre and the Traffic Department while the second stage entails connecting Fahes network centres with each other as wells as with the Traffic Department.

Such a modern system will allow for data exchange between the centres and the Traffic Department, while minimising the time needed for completing the inspection process.

Fahes smart inspection centres guarantee the accuracy and centralisation of the data, hence minimising the incidents of manipulating data by employees or other agencies and ensuring high reliability of the electronically generated reports.

Woqod thanked HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani for his continued support to its operations, company chairman Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, and all other authorities and stakeholders concerned.
